REC REG 19 FEB 16

To the Chief Detective Inspector.

Sir,

Mr. Kleinjung, a Naturalised British subject

-cent, arrived in the Colony by the S.S."Sardinia". A message had been received by me from the Captain Superintendent of Police telling me to take Kleinjung to him on the arrival of the steamer. A telegram had been received by the Military Authorities from Singapore addressed "Kleinjung, passenger S. S. "Sardinia", care of Provost Marshal, with

reference to Kleinjung'■ baggag®, and was to the effect that the

bagɛage was being forwarded from England by the next stemmer". This tele

-gram was in answer to one which had been sent by the Military Authori-

-ties at Singapore to London at Kleinjung's request. I understand that

Kleinjung had been pulled up in Singapore partly on account of his

⚫arly nationality and partly owing to his travelling light i... he

had been purchasing artiales of clothing at different ports on the voy-

-age out. I took him and his baggage to the C. S. P. He was seen by the

Han. C. S. P. showed his business papers, baggage etc and explained his

business in Shanghai and I then showed him to the Họngkong Hotel, where

ho stayed for the day before returning to the ship to continue his voy-

-age North. The copy of the telegram received from the Military Authori-

-ties I left with the Hon. C.S.P.

You may recollect the day, because it was the same day that "Ingoll." who was deported from late German Possessions via German East Africa and India arrived by the same boat and stayed at the Carl-

-ton Hotel until he left for U.S.A.

Klein jung's baggage came through Hongkong by the S. S. *lanking on September 12th. and was not interfered with.

Kleinjung returned to Hongkong for a few days in October and I asked him to report his arrival persmally to the lion C.S.P.
